Healthy eating During pregnancy

 


It is important to eat a healthy and balanced diet during baby because your unborn baby gets all its food and nutrients from you, encouraging a healthy pregnancy and a strong and healthy baby.

Pregnant woman need more energy and nutrients in her body that doesn't mean that (you eat for two) rather that you try to eat differnt healthy foods and have regular meals.


As well as taking your Pre-natal vitamins (folic acid) you can also obtain folic acid from some types of food which include..

Green vegetables - brocoli, spinach, Brussel Sprouts

Fruit- oragnges

Yeast

Beans and peas 

Some breads and cereal may contain folic acid (refer to the package)

Its also important to get iron into your body you can find iron in some of the foods below..

Eggs

Lentils

Prunes or apricots

Brocoli or spinach

Beef 

Pork

Chicken

Lamb

Fish

Try to avoid high fibre breakfast cereals or tea/coffee tends to reduce the bodys ability to use the iron needed.
